Description

Up for bid is vintage 1981 Casblanca/Polygram Records first pressing of KISS's much maligned but cult classic (Music from) The Elder. This particular LP features a "0704" Album Graphics jacket pressing which seems somewhat less common than the more familiar "501" Shorewood Packaging versions. These "0704" versions contain two distinct features not evident on the "501" versions:

  • The rear jacket has the songs listed in the correct running order as present on the album (beginning with "The Oath") rather than what was supposed to be running order of the album that began with "fanfare"
  • The album comes with a paper sleeve printed with album credits and song lyrics. More common 501 pressings of the album came with a custom plastic inner sleeve
In terms of condition, the vinyl certainly shows signs of previous use/wear and handling. The LP plays all the way through without skipping, but it does have its share of audible pops and such. Likewise, the outer jacket shows handling and storage wear. The bottom gatefold seam shows scuffing, and there are mild stress creases evident in places on the cover. Similarly, the inner sleeve is splitting on all three sealed sides. This LP certainly isn't for collectors seeking high quality versions of this particular LP. However, if you don't mind the imperfections and would like to add this previously-loved LP to your collection, this LP would make a welcome addition to one's collection.

  • Pressing plant # 53 listed on the vinyl label
  • Side A Deadwax information = D -- 5 NBLP 7261 AS RE HRM  "STERLING" stamped
  • Side B Deadwax information = E -- 1 NBLP 7261 BS RE HRM  "STERLING" stamped
