Waiting For The Rites Of Mu was originally released by record company ‘Echo Beach’ in 1997. The disc featured two tracks; Waiting and The Rights Of Mu, in that order. Production was limited to a total of 3333 copies. KLF banned the recording and (I think) took Echo Beach to court over its release. Copies still float around for about 90 GBP.
This item is the American TurtleStar release containing the same two tracks with an added bonus and a bit of a twist. The order of the two tracks has been reversed with the first composition transitioning into the next to create a seamless listening experience.
The Rites Of Mu still bobs around on the internet but Waiting appears almost impossible to get hold of.
This isn’t so much of an album, more an audio narrative. The Rites Of Mu indeed features a narration by Martin Sheen.
Not listed on any of the packaging, a hidden track exists after a long silence at the end of track two. It’s a version of 3a.m Eternal, no idea what the mix is though.
The paper wraparound is of course removable and sufficiently strong to withstand general handling without falling apart.
The disc comes in a crystal case with a transparant holder. As can be seen from the case scans, the entire packaging is black print on white. Inside the front sleeve (not shown) is a whole bunch of text that no doubt relates to one or both of the tracks. Reads like a random rambling to me! So, here are the tracks.

TurtleStar CD’s are highly restricted in their distribution and usually only available on a ‘Closed Loop’ basis. The mastering of their material is superb and everything is produced in house to strict quality control standards. All discs they produce feature full colour sleeve and disc artwork unless the collour palette is restricted for the purposes of design. Unlike many other limited edition providers, their discs are fully lacqueured for surface durability and jewel case packaged. Some discs are packaged using a standard black disc holder whilst others utlise a transparant insert featuring an internal disc holder print. These are harder to come by than the standard blacks.
