Description
KNAPPERTSBUSCH / FLAGSTAD / VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA / WAGNER - " DIE WALKURE - ACT ONE COMPLETE ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd. (SXL 2074-5) Stereo.
Very rare English, Stereo 1st pressing 2LP boxset with original grooved Decca wideband label with the all important "Original Recording By" label text and front laminated sleeve - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)
In the name of a good auction I'm starting this record at just 99p and i will let the bidders decide it's worth.
CONDITION:
VINYL = V.G.+ (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out some slight surface marks and a few other paper scuffs just visible on the vinyl's surface - although these don't seem to correspond directly to any audible defects. There are average spindle trails - the record's clearly been played but not excessively so.
Generally it plays pretty well, but there is some very faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in and occasionally during a couple of quieter moments during the recording. As the record played, I did hear the odd faint click or crackle in the background from time to time, but generally once the music gets going that's all you can hear.
Overall, although it is not quite perfect and I realise this will affect the value, it is by no means ruined by these minor imperfections and would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy at a slightly more affordable price... and personally, I'd take a not quite perfect, original Decca stereo LP over a perfectly sterile CD re-issue all day long.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (No rips, tears, monster creases, defacing, etc. Not ruined by any means, but does suffer some wear around the edges and corners, one corner of the box lid is split and there's a couple of marks on the back of the box - see photos for further clarification)
NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. Before bidding, please read my description carefully, decide how much this record is worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to check out my feedback from the many other successful transactions I have made in the past.
ANY QUESTIONS? PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO GET IN TOUCH!
HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!
