The Fabulous KNICKERBOCKERS
LIES
The Knickerbockers hit the bigtime, in a big hurry, with their song "Lies" in December of 1965. The record sounded a lot like the Beatles and was even written in the same style as a Lennon-McCartney composition.
The New Jersey band tried again and again to re-capture that hit but never quite made it. Their records were solid, but perhaps little Challenge Records, who hadn't had a hit record in years, didn't know how to bring it all home.
This was the Lp that was put together to take it to the next level. The back of the jacket is covered with accolades from their friends like Brian Wilson, The Righteous Bros., Glen Campbell, Marvin Gaye, and Ian Whitcomb.
