This metal acetate was cut in the production process of the Warner Brothers 12" Numbers / Computer World released in 1981 with the cat.-no. PRO-A-973.

The record is very heavy because of the metal core and weighs about 165 grams (a standard 10" vinyl is about 90-100 grams only).

WHAT IS AN ACETATE? In his book Rare Rock - A Collectors Guide the author Tony Rees explains:

"Acetates: Aluminium discs of various sizes (7, 10 or 12 inch) with thin coating of shellac or vinyl. These discs are not pressed like regular vinyl issues. Instead, they are INDIVIDUALLY cut by the master cutter as a "pre" test pressing to give directions as to how the final cut should go. As such, EACH acetate is unique, and acetates constitute some of the rarest items in the whole field of record collecting." (thanks, Tony!)

Kommt aus der Produktion der Warner Brothers 12" Maxi  Numbers / Computer World, die 1981 mit der Katalognummer PRO-A-973 erschienen ist.

Wegen des Metallkerns ist die Platte sehr schwer. Sie wiegt etwa 165 Gramm, ein normales 10"-Vinyl dagegen nur etwa 90 bis 100 Gramm.

WAS IST EINE AZETAT-PLATTE?

In seinem Buch Rare Rock - A Collectors Guide erklärt der Autor Tony Rees (sinngemäße Übersetzung von mir!):

Azetat-Platten: Aluminiumplatten verschiedener Größen (7, 10 oder 12 inch) mit einer dünnen Beschichtung aus Schellack oder Vinyl. Diese Platten werden nicht wie normale gepreßt, stattdessen wird jede einzelne vom Mastercutter als eine Art Vorabtestpressung individuell geschnitten (also mit einer Art Schneidnadel in Echtzeit!), um sich an die idealen Einstellungen für den abschließenden Schnitt (the final-cut!) der Mutterplatten für die anschließende Produktion heranzutasten. Dementsprechend ist jede Azetatplatte einzigartig, und Azetatplatten gehören zu den seltensten Raritäten in der ganzen Welt des Plattensammelns.

Record:  NM TOP-CONDITION!  The condition of this record is really remarkable, as acetates are much more sensible for damages than full-vinyl records.        I bought this from a former record company employee who obviously really took best care of his collection. Different to the most acetates turning up on eBay this one offered here looks close to new with a glossy surface without any scratches or other damages. I played it once and it sounds great on my very sensible high-end turntable Garrard 401/SME/Grado. Label is clean. B-side is plane without groove or label and very clean too. The best you can find!

Platte:    NM ABSOLUTER TOP-ZUSTAND! Der Zustand dieser Platte ist wirklich bemerkenswert, da Azetatplatten viel empfindlicher für Beschädigungen sind, als normale. Ich habe sie von einem ehemaligen Mitarbeiter einer amerikanischen Plattenfirma gekauft, der offensichtlich sehr sehr gut auf seine Sammlung geachtet hat. Anders als die meisten Azetatplatten, die bei eBay auftauchen, sieht diese hier so gut wie neu aus mit glänzender Oberfläche und ohne irgendwelche Kratzer oder sonstige Schäden. Ich habe sie ein Mal abgespielt, und sie spielt und klingt sehr gut auf meinem sehr empfindlichen High-End Plattenspieler Garrard 401/SME/Grado. Das Label ist sauber. Die B-Seite ist glatt ohne Rille und ohne Label und ebenfalls sehr sauber. 

Cover:    VG++ Rare original "audiodiscs"-sleeve from the manufacturer of the acetate blanks in very nice condition! A few very slight bends and two or three minimal tears on the die-cut opening. Sharp edges, no writings, no stickers, no seamsplits. To preserve the near perfect condition of the record the sleeve has a protective sheet inside like a polylined innersleeve (see last pic). Hülle:     VG++ Sehr seltene Originalhülle vom Hersteller der Azetatplattenrohlinge in sehr schönem Zustand. Ein ganz paar leichte Knicke und zwei oder drei Minirisse am runden Mittelloch. Saubere Ecken und Kanten, keine Schrift, keine Aufkleber, keine Seamsplits (Kantenrisse). Um die Platte in ihrem  nahezu perfekten Zustand zu erhalten, ist in der Hülle eine Plastikfolie wie bei einer gefütterten Innenhülle (vgl. letztes Bild).
