I like this album, despite the fact that it deviates rather significantly from the heavier prog of their later, glory period. Indeed little of this album really even qualifies as progressive. Though I hesitate to call it soft rock, it certainly is comparatively low energy to subsequent albums. Some of the material is blues oriented, but on the whole, it is mostly just laid-back rock. As I was listening to this, I noticed I was pretty much giving the same grade (good) to every track, and I started to almost hope for a weaker track to come along, just to break the streak. Several of these tracks started out that way, with me thinking "here we go, this one is clearly off the pace", only to kick it up substantially by the middle of the song. In the end, most of these tracks are really good, with some psych elements in the mix.
