Description
FORMAT: 78 RPM Record
GENRE: BLUES
ARTIST: Kansas Joe McCoy & Memphis Minnie
TITLES: WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS/THAT WILL BE ALRIGHT
LABEL & NUMBER: Columbia 14439
GRADE & DESCRIPTION (RECORD): G+ (1 sticking dig on the A side, could likely be filled to pass with dental wax. This is a decent player despite the grade - music is well above surface noise, it is strong & clear and there is no blasting or distortion)
(I grade conservatively using the VJM scale)
NOTES: This is a big one, y'all, an absolute country blues classic and an honest-to-goodness piece of rock & roll history, as this was the disc that inspired Led Zeppelin's version of When The Levee Breaks. Recorded in New York City on June 18, 1929. It doesn't surface often in any condition, and when it does it disappears into the new collection never to be seen again - what we call a "black hole" record - until the owner either upgrades or dies. Here's your shot at it, and with a very modest opening bid, at that.
PAYMENT REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE (unless you have contacted me to make other arrangements). If you cannot pay or have no intention to pay for your winnings, please do not bid. It seems like such a simple concept, but here lately...
I am an experienced 78 record packer & shipper! Records will be sandwiched between cardboard and floated in an a 12" x 12" (or larger) oversized box stuffed with filler material. Haven't had a single record break, 100% positive record shipping both domestically and overseas. Check my feedback, this is the real deal.
SHIPPING PRICES for 78 RPM RECORDS:
USA: $7 for 1st 78 and .50 cents each additional. (Note that this BARELY covers postage, corrugate, peanuts, etc., and I'm actually taking a loss when you calculate that eBay charges sales tax on shipping AND THEN takes 10% of the combined shipping & sales tax as well, to say nothing of the bite that PayPal then takes of the total...)
WAIT FOR INVOICE after multiple wins for combined shipping discount!
INTERNATIONAL: $40 for 1st Record and $5 each additional. (Price went up Sep 2020, sorry guys, the old rate didn't even cover the postage anymore...) WAIT FOR INVOICE!
CANADA: $15 for 1st Record and $3 each additional. WAIT FOR INVOICE!
PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE BEFORE BIDDING.
