Description
You are bidding on a very rare 45 record (I'll Be Yours and flip side Looking For Love) by Karen and Richard Carpenter, and personally autographed by Karen Carpenter herself in Downey ,California when she signed and gave it to Connie (MyAunt). Connie and Karen Carpenter went to school together and became good freinds. Karen gave her one of only 500 produced, and autographed it for her making this record extremely rare and unique of its kind.On May 13, 1966, Karen, just discovering her vocal capabilities, was signed to Magic Lamp Records, a small, independent label. The label was owned by Joe Osborn, a well-known session bassist in the L.A. area. It was in Osborn's garage studio that Karen recorded "Looking for Love," "I'll Be Yours," "The Parting of Our Ways," and one other. Karen was drummer, of course, while Richard played keyboards and Joe played bass. A lone single was released in the summer or 1966. With only 500 records made, a lack of distribution is credited for the unsuccessful release. That Magic Lamp 45RPM is today reportedly worth $500-$2,500! This record was given to Connie in the late 60's and is in Vintage Mint+++ condition. It has been taken care of extremely well over the years and kept enclosed in its paper sleeve and sealed in plastic.
