Kate Bush - Original gig ticket stub from the Liverpool Empire, her first ever gig from the Tour of Life in 1979

The Tour of Life took in 24 dates across Europe, and after a warm-up gig in Poole, Kate Bush opened this iconic tour in Liverpool, at the Empire Theatre, on 3 April.  The show revolved around Kate's first two studio albums, The Kick Inside and Lionheart, and was acclaimed for its use of mime and magic. It was even technologically advanced; because Bush loved to dance as she sang, her tour engineers fashioned a wireless headset microphone from a wire clothes hanger, meaning Bush was the first singer to wear such a device on stage.
