This is the original Van Gelder-etched (“RVG”), deep-groove, flat-rim mono pressing of “Kenny Burrell” on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1543. “Ear” or “P” present in deadwax.

Get a taste of that original Blue Note first pressing magic. No reissue will ever sound as good.

Under direct light, this heavy vinyl has many non-feel-able hairline marks on both vinyl sides. There are four brief but feel-able scratches that are audible on Side 1. There are three audible, feel-able scratches on side two. The LP has quiet moments, then moments when there is surface noise, and also where loud ticks and pops ensue. There is the occasional repeating tick or knock. Good gloss on both sides. Both labels clean and clear. The music signal from guitar, piano, bass and drums is so strong, rich and clear, with full tone, with absolutely no distortion--as with all powerfully-recorded Blue Note first pressings, these faults do not deter from the enjoyment of the music. This is an incredibly dynamic and powerful sounding LP. An early and rare, pre-1958 Flat Rim disc.

COVER: The 47 West 63rd St., NYC 23 cover (Original Jacket), featuring the illustration and signature of Andy Warhol, and is completely split on two sides. Front cover is slightly discolored at the edges. Front left top corner has remains of a sticker: “A.” Otherwise, clean. Back of jacket shows moderate age wear, “D” in a small circle, but otherwise no tears, no tape, no marks. Personnel includes Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers, Kenny Clarke, Oscar Pettiford, Frank Foster and Shadow Wilson.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge/Music Hall Moo Mat, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers.
