I'm pretty sure this LP would have been big bucks if it had been played by Dutch doped up white hippie-guys. As these were people from the Dutch colony, in those days, Surinam in latin America there seems to have to be another story. Music is an amazing mix of celtic folk psych with sitar psych and Chinese and Indonesian elements all creating a divers and floating one of a kind trippy experience. As if Ravi Shankar is playing with the Camper van Beethoven whose drummer has been replaced by tablas and other ethnic percussion. Also has a certian kind of amatueristic charm to it. Mister Ketwaru led the Paramaribo music-school and wanted to make an album that would show influences of all different ethnic groups living in Surinam. So Hindi, Java, Dutch (They even do a sitar version of Dutch folk-tune 'De Scheresliep'!), Creool and Chinese influences. They're all here. Listen to the soundfiles and be as amazed as I was when I found it for the first time. I understand Dureco pressed 350 or 500 copies in the very early 70s and this is the thrird time in 15 years I find it and one of 'm is firmly in my own collection. NM/ NM!
