Kevin Ayers & The Whole World - Stranger In Blue Suede Shoes/ Stars
(Harvest Records HAR 5042 UK Demo 7" Single 1971)
This is a 1971 UK original Demo 7" single pressing. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has light green/ yellow "Harvest" labels. These have the mid sized "A" on the A-side label. They also have the "Demo Record Not For Sale" is also printed on the labels. The labels have "The Gramophone Co..." text around the upper perimeter, the labels have a 4 pronged centre. The record has 1st press HAR 5042 A-1 and HAR 5043 B-1 matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. It comes with its original "Harvest" company paper sleeve. This is a rare early 1970's UK Demo 7" Single. So please see my other listings.
Vinyl: There is a mild to very mild edge warp. It doesn't really affect playback at all. This notice that much, & only really notices when playing the B-side. It does not affect playback at all. The record plays very nicely. This very mild warp could probably be improved, or re-flattened, by someone with the right expertise.
There is also a mild 4.5 cm hairline surface mark that arches across slight on the B-side. There are three tiny 0.5 cm hairline surface marks, right next to each other, on the B-side. The original paper sleeve has left a very mild bit of surface ringwear marking on the A-side. Otherwise, there are some light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs which are barely visible under a strong light. Overall, this single is in Good+ condition. This is only because of the very mild edge warp. Otherwise, visually, the vinyl looks in more Very Good+ to Near Excellent condition. The Labels are in Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear only.
The Harvest company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this 7" single. It plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There is a very light bit of sound warble, due to the edge warp, at the very start of the A-side. This doesn't last very long. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy!
