Description

Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure.  The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing.  This avoids the cancellation issue, but appears to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a double $16, a few bucks less for ground.
Thanks for shopping Sir Helmitt,

Whatevershebringswesing/Bananamour

2LP gatefold from France

Harvest ?– 2 C 150-52507, Harvest ?– 2 C 150-52508  2 × Vinyl, LP, Album, Compilation 1977 (France)

AllMusic:  Kevin Ayers' third and fourth albums represent, respectively, the last will and testament of the Whole World, the almost freakishly maverick band he pieced together around Mike Oldfield, David Bedford, and Lol Coxhill, and the first flowering of the willfully pop-tinged moods into which he moved once that band shattered. As with its predecessors, Joy of a Toy and Shooting at the Moon, both LPs are prone to wander off on some quite bewildering passages, the hallmark of Ayers' founding role in the Soft Machine. But still there's a brilliance at work here that cannot be quantified by any one song, or dismissed by any other -- "Song from the Bottom of a Well," from Whatevershebringswesing, remains a startling exercise in dislocated noise and savagery, which Oldfield himself described as the nearest he ever came in the studio to repeating what he habitually did on-stage: "I would do an electric guitar solo, and depending on how pissed I was, I used to let it feedback and do somersaults all over the floor." Elsewhere, however, the flamboyant "Stranger in Blue Suede Shoes" proved just how easily Ayers could write classic, commercial rock songs, a brief that Bananamour extended across almost half of its body weight. "Don't Let It Get You Down" and "Shouting in a Bucket Blues" are both exemplary (Steve Hillage's guitar solo during the latter is one of his all-time finest), while the quirky bounce of "Oh! Wot a Dream" really ought to have been a hit single. Elsewhere, "Decadence" predicts Ayers' later collaboration with Nico by dedicating at least a couple of verses to her, and packs a moody grandiosity that might well rank among Ayers' most perfectly realized compositions ever. Fans frequently cite Ayers' earlier albums as the man at his finest and that may be true. But this pair catch him at a peak nevertheless and, if you can add the period comp Odd Ditties to the pile, you'll never put them down again.
