When your dunza (money) is done what to do? Listening to "Babylon A Fall" by The Congo's Watty Burnett would help. This ace original forty five from Lee Perry and Watty as King Burnett fills the bill, if not pay them. "Rastaman a call...Wicked men a bawl, When the dunza done, You want to kill Jah son... No place to lay our head, No room to put our bed, This kind of life a dread, Some of them ago lose them head..." Awoah, suffererer. The dub side "Cripple Skank" adds wildly delightful effects over the crucial x-rayed riddim. "Revelation time, can't you see the sign? Take us out of bondage, Teach us our language..."David Katz writes in his amazing book PEOPLE FUNNY BOY -The Genius Of Lee "Scratch" Perry, in the section titled HURT SO GOOD-EARLY FRUITS OF THE BLACK ARK, 'Perry's unique approach to recording meant that few of his creations were dull or ordinary, and many are worth mentioning just because of their sheer inventiveness. Watty Burnett was living about two miles away from the Ark in this period (late 1974), and he ended up spending a great deal of time there. As King Burnett he cut a couple of vocal numbers with Perry in late 1974 including "Babylon A Fall", a Rastafarian claim for equal rights over a sparse rhythm that typified the early Ark sound. Burnett noted that he and Junior Byles were treated like family members at the Ark, along with Bob Marley, who would occasionally pass through...'
