Description
An original 1st press of ITCOTCK on the solid pink Island label from 1969. Matrix 2/4. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover. Please note true 1st issue covers are heavier card and must mention E.J.Day . Also included is the 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve date coded to the month prior to 1st release - Sep 1969 [099]. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In sublime condition and has only seen very very light use. Under close inspection we can only make out one superficial marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Don't under estimate what a difficult find this is - Crimson King is an incredibly fussy record. Most copies, by now, will be displaying some sort of audio issues, but this example is without doubt the best I've ever set my eyes upon. The audio, as you can imagine, is absolutely stunning. The dynamics you need with this title are all there along with fantastic transparency. I can only grade this as nigh on faultless - literally all the way through. In the dense passages - great 'punch'... and in the quiet sections - perfectly clean. Moonchild - the super fussy track is very clean...all percussion perfectly resolved..silent background. Interference is pretty much non-existent. We literally didn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots the whole way through. Pretty solid FINAL UPGRADE - no point looking for anything beyond this as it doesn't exist.
Cover (Ex+) Ok, so most folk will understand the incredible difficulty in finding one of these covers truly looking like new. And this example is by far and away the nicest I've ever witnessed. The front is pretty much faultless - practically no signs of wear at all. And the rear isn't far behind only the very lightest superficial handling signs. Edge wear is extremely light for one of these early copies. And the opening edges are still sharp!! The text on the spine is 90% legible and unaffected - just a touch of light wear [way way above average]. The interior is immaculate - no issues. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and lies totally flat. Wow - what a humdinger!
