Ok, If you like your pressings early and you like your audio sweet and clean - this copy might well fit the bill. But I need to make something clear right at the outset, here, which is not immediately obvious from the photos. In fact, you cannot tell at all from the photos! This very early pressing comes with an inverted cover. From the outside all looks like it should - spot on. But if you were to open the cover up you will find the interior print/image is inverted - it is "upside down". Please do take this on board as it could easily take someone by surprise as it is not evident from the photos.
So, the valuation put on this LP is based primarily on the fact that it is CRIMSON..it is an early 1st...And the audio is absolutely superb. If that can't get you to put up with turning the cover upside-down once in a while nothing will!!
Ok, so 1st press of ITWOP on the UK Island label from 1970. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original textured "inverted"cover printed by E J Day. Also included is an original plastic bag warning inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Absolutely superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. This copy goes straight in at no.1 for audio performance in my opinion - I haven't ever heard this title sound this good..ever. It is borderline faultless. We are talking - no background interference at all from start to finish. Nothing but silence in those slow builds, or when the clock is ticking, nothing at all.. nada..zip. I will do my usual 'catch all' - a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. But in reality you will never better this copy no matter how long you look...FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Vg+) Ok, so I'm leaving the inverted nature of the cover out of the grading. It is entirely subjective and everyone needs to make their own personal assessment on that. Front and back are in really nice condition with only the very lightest surface wear just visible. There are a few creases in the interior so it's ok - but not perfect. Edge wear is reasonably light for this title. The text on the spine is mostly legible - but not perfectly. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity thanks to the heavy-card employed in the construction.
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing no splits or markings.
