Kinky Friedman Echo Hill Ranch Silver Jubilee LP 1953-1977 - Rare Early Kinky CLP-13319
Without a doubt, the RAREST appearance on vinyl for Kinky Friedman. The Echo Hill Ranch was a summer camp for boys and girls near Medina, Texas, run by Kinky's parents Dr. Thomas Friedman and Minnie Samet Friedman (Uncle Tom and Aunt Min). The ranch was a summertime haven for Jewish kids from all over Texas who, otherwise, were shut out from other camps in the state. This album commemorates the 25th summer of service.
Many of the songs herein were composed by campers themselves. Songs are sung by a group of campers from the summer of '77 with accompaniment, at times, by Kinky. Introduction and closing remarks by Aunt Min and Uncle Tom.
