What we here is somewhat curious. This is a 1985 Mercury Records pressing of Creatures of the Night in an original Casablanca/Polygram sleeve. This is how I got the record, so 1 of two things made this happen:
1. There was some weird mix up at the pressing plant and they put the repress LP in original sleeve.
2. Someone in the past just slipped the repress into an original cover.
Not sure which one is the reality, and we likely never will. I also cannot find this exact pressing on Discogs, the closest I found had label discrepancies, so who knows, maybe it really is a weird copy? The LP has some tiny dots of paint or something on it, but I just listened to the LP all the way through and it plays well. Does not skip at all and has minimal background noise. The cover is very glossy, much glossier than my other original press.
Just received this message from another ebay member:
“Hey....just for the record..... I actually own this combination also. I found it in a record store a few years ago and I had the same questions... could be just a mix up, or just a throw together at the pressing plant. I held on to it in the event that we discovered that is actually a thing.....?”
