Otto Klemperer/ The Philharmonia Orchestra
(Ludwig, Frick, Vickers etc..)

Beethoven: Fidelio

(Columbia SAX 2451/53 UK Triple LP Box Set 1962)

This is an original UK Stereo 3 x LP Box Set pressing in very nice overall condition! It has a heavyweight card box which is hinged at the spine.  It has a laminated front panel which has a gold EMI "Stereophonic" circular sticker on the front. It comes complete with its original full Libretto and information insert. The information insert/ booklet is printed on pale blue paper. I think that the full libretto was sold separately, so are not that common.

All 3 records have their original polythene-lined generic "EMI" company inner sleeves. The records are pressed on thick vinyl & have turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. The matrix numbers are:

Side 1: YAX 881-8
Side 2: YAX 882-8
Side 3: YAX 883-9
Side 4: YAX 884-9
Side 5: YAX 885-8
Side 6: YAX 886-10

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing complete with libretto and insert. These are not that common. I have some other rare UK Classical LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings. Don't miss out!

Box: The gold spine text has faded away completely. To reiterate, none of the spine text is legible (see photo). Otherwise, there is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear along the bottom edge of the laminated front panel. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips on some areas. There are no seam splits. The hinge is in great order. The inside of the box is in near excellent condition. There is some light or very mild foxing on the "Important" sticker on the inside box. Overall, a strong Very Good condition.

Vinyl 1: There are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. There is a hairline pressing mark that partially goes around the edge of the dead wax on both sides. These do not notice that much. Overall, NEAR EXCELLENT condition.  The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear. The polythene-lined generic company "EMI" inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle noticeable in some quieter places. Overall, a great audio copy!

Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are now the law for outside parcels going into the EU.

    >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = As good as a copy you would buy from a shop, immaculate!

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, maybe a couple of very, very light paper sleeve scuffs that can only be seen under strong light. SOME WOULD CLASS THIS AS MINT. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. Cover is virtually perfect - very minimal wear only.

EX Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows virtually no defects. Maybe one or two light needle scuffs or light sleeve removal marks that can only be seen under strong light. There will be no scratches. Play will be near perfect with no distortion. Cover will be very nice with maybe very minimal creasing, ringwear or edgewear.

NEAR EX Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only; that barely detract from the sound quality. Cover may have slight creasing or ringwear. A very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

VG Condition = A well played but serviceable copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears. The record will not be trashed!!
>>  Postage Rates

AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.

Royal Mail have very recently increased their postage rates. So I have revised my postage costs to reflect their increases. (Please note that these prices include packaging costs too)

DISCOUNT WILL BE GIVEN ON POSTAGE FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS. SEE PRICES ABOVE.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7". I use a cruciform box for larger orders (4-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 2-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...

Sorry, I only accept Paypal, or money sent in a registered letter from overseas buyers.

If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.

Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
