(Columbia SAX 2347/ 48 UK Double LP Box Set 1960)

This is an original UK Stereo double LP Box Set pressing in very nice overall condition! It has a heavyweight "Stereo" card box which is hinged at the spine.  It has a laminated front panel. It comes with its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company inner sleeves. It comes complete with its original picture/ information booklet.

The records are pressed on thick vinyl & have turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. There are grooved also. The matrix numbers are:

Side 1: YAX 543-8
Side 2: YAX 544-6
Side 3: YAX 545-6
Side 4: YAX 546-5

Box: There is moderate to considerable fading to the gold lettering on the spine. Only the "Kle" is clearly visible. The rest of the spine text has almost completely faded (see photo). There is some mild to more moderate rubbing wear on all four corner tips on some areas. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the bottom edge. There are no seam splits. The hinge is in great order. The inside of the box is in Excellent+ condition. Overall, a strong Very Good condition.

Vinyl 1: There are some light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Very NEAR EXCELLENT condition.  The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company "Emitex" inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light or very mild ringwear. There is mild to more moderate fading. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall, & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle noticeable in some quieter places. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy!

Vinyl 2: There are some light or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. EXCELLENT condition.  The labels are in Very Near Mint condition and show no spindle wear. The company "Emitex" inner sleeve is in Near Excellent condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent to Excellent+ in many places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle noticeable in some quieter places. There are about 4 mild clicks toward the end of Side 3. There are 5 or 6 light or very mild clicks midway through Side 4. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy!

The Booklet is in Near Excellent to Excellent condition overall. There is a small & light crease in one corner tip area. There are a couple of minor creases at the spine area. There are some light or very minor handling creases on some pages.

Overall, both LP's are very reasonable audio copies. However, boths LP's would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually this records are very nice & clean. Therefore, any crackle and very few clicks are just due to microscopic dirt deep down in the grooves. Both LP's would, I believe, play Excellent+ & better after a professional clean. It should remove any crackle etc..

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).
