Description
Otto Klemperer/ The Philharmonia Orchestra
Mozart - Two Symphonies In G Minor
(Columbia SAX 2278 UK LP 1959)
This is a UK original Stereo LP pressing. It has a fully laminated flipback sleeve which has a circular gold "Stereophonic" sticker on the front. The rear flipbacks have a rounded die-cut area at the centre. It has its original polythene-lined company "Emitex" inner sleeve.
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver Columbia labels. These are grooved also. It has 1st press YAX 104-2 and YAX 105-4 matrix stampers. This is a genuine UK 1st pressing with a fully laminated sleeve & grooved labels. These are not that common.
Sleeve: There is a 2 cm tear near the top of the rear sleeve opening. There is some mild to more moderate, in places, ringwear. This has caused some laminate creasing in a couple of areas. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light or very light sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are 4 light hairline marks on Side 2. They vary in size from 0.2 cm to 1.5 cm. So these are all very small. There is one very light 2.5 cm hairline mark on Side 1. VG+ condition. The labels are in excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in VG++ condition. There is some light ringwear & creasing. There is some mild writing on both sides. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. Side 1 plays VG+ overall & Near Excellent to Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. This is mainly noticeable on the first half of the 1st track. Side 2 plays VG to VG+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is some mild to more moderate crackle at the start of Side 2. It doesn't last too long. There are a few light clicks midway through the side too. This LP would certainly benefit from a professional clean. I think it would play much better afterwards.
