One of the ways to best appreciate the impact of the live set captured on this disc is to put yourself in the shoes of the two bands that followed L7 onto the Hollywood Palladium stage on 17 May 1991. Headliners, the Butthole Surfers and main support Redd Kross were both established mainstays of the punk underground scene. Both bands enjoyed healthy reputations and the kind of profiles that would shortly see the Surfers follow Redd Kross in scoring a major label deal. Although these groups were secure in their popularity – any sense of complacency they may have been harbouring would have been instantly vaporized by an opening band that simply turned up, rocked hard and said, ‘follow that...’
