Lawrence Kenneth Moss (b. Los Angeles, California, November 18, 1927) is an American composer of contemporary classical music. He holds a B.A. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, an M.A. from the Eastman School of Music, and a Ph. D. in music composition from the University of Southern California, where his instructors included Leon Kirchner and Ingolf Dahl. He has taught at Mills College, Yale University (1960-1968), and the University of Maryland, College Park (since 1969). His notable students include Jeffrey Mumford, Greg Steinke, Frances White, Cheryl Seltzer, Anthony Villa, Liviu Marinescu, and Susan Cohn Lackman. He has received two Guggenheim Fellowships (1959 and 1968), a Fulbright Scholarship, and four grants from the National Endowment for the Arts. Moss has composed operatic, instrumental, and electronic music. His music has been recorded on the CRI, Desto, Opus One, Albany, Capstone, Orion, EMF, Spectrum, Advance, and AmCam labels. His works have been performed by such distinguished performers as Phyllis Bryn-Julson, Harry Sparnaay, Esther Lamneck and Chris Gekker. Performing groups have included the Baltimore Symphony, Theater Chamber Players of Kennedy Center, Continuum, Speculum Musicae, the Left Bank Concert Society, Verge Ensemble at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington, DC, the New Juilliard Ensemble of New York, as well as Monday Evening Concerts of Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players.

The American soprano, Phyllis Bryn-Julson, began studying the piano at age three. She enrolled in Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, studying piano, organ, voice and violin, already showing a predilection for twelve-tone music (1963-1965). She received an Honorary Doctorate from Concordia in 1995. At the behest of Gunther Schuller she turned to vocal studies, first attending the Tanglewood Summer Music Festival (1964-1967); then she transferred to Syracuse University, studying voice with Helen Boatwright, completing her Bachelor of Music Degree in 1967 and Master of Music Degree in Voice in 1969. Phyllis Bryn-Julson is recognized as one of the most authoritative interpreters of vocal music of the 20th century. She collaborated with Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble InterContemporaine for much of her career, taking her to numerous festivals in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the former Soviet Union, Japan and all of continental Europe and England.

She has premiered works of many 20th century composers, some of which were written for her. Included in this list are Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen, Goehr, György Kurtág, Heinz Holliger, Tavener, George Rochberg, David Del Tredici, Ned Rorem, Carter, Milton Babbitt, Harrison Birtwistle, Boone, John Cage, Felciano, Charles Wuorinen, Georges Aperghis, and Krzystof Penderecki.

Condition: Vinyl and cover lie in mint- condition, vinyl looks super clean and plays perfectly, while cover lies in pristine shape, like new.
