Description
St. Louis "Territory" band JETER-PILLARS "CLUB PLANTATION ORCHESTRA" made only four sides in their whole fifteen-year career. These are two of them: "I LIKE PIE - I LIKE CAKE, BUT I LIKE YOU BEST OF ALL" and "LAZY RHYTHM."
JAMES JETER and CHARLES PILLAR had been members of Alphonse Trent's legendary band. When it broke up in 1933, they formed the Jeter-Pillars Orchestra, which was in residence at the Plantation Club in St. Louis for ten years. A virtual "Who's Who" of jazz passed through their ranks, including "Sweets" Edison, Jimmy Blanton, Jo Jones, Sid Catlett, Kenny Clarke and on this record, the man who introduced the amplified guitar to jazz, Floyd Smith.
This original 1937 Blue Vocalion 3715 is in shiny EE+ condition on "Lazy Rhythm"; "I Like Pie" has a tiny bit of wear, call it EE-.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
