Description
From 1967, out of the Somerville,New Jersey area, comes The Leather Apple with their single on WGW acetate. The A side song is Carousel b/w Beneath My Window. The label was hand-typed, glued onto the acetate and the label originally had a small hole which was then enlarged by a group member to be a regular 45 hole. This unfortunately removed the name of the song along with part of the label on the A side. The B side label has been torn. This single was acetate only, which is a shame as it is a TREMENDOUS punk psych single! The people that I have played it for have flipped for it when I played it! No one has ever seen or heard of this group before! The A side is dark moody punk while the B side has a pop edge garage sound with a tremendous freak-out near the end, then it goes back to pop edge garage!
Probably a one-off from a group that walked into the door of the WGW studios, made an acetate while there and probably left with one or two copies, never to be heard from again! Recorded directly onto the acetate without the benefit of recording tape.

It was stored in a damp area and has spotting on the wax. Two small edge chips to cellulose. Plays close to VG+!
