Description
LED ZEPPELIN – 1st Press. TURQUOISE LETTERING – "SUPERHYPE" Credit • 588 171
Original 1969 Atlantic stereo recording catalogue number 588 171, Led Zeppelin’s self-titled first album. Red/maroon label with "Superhype" publishing credits on both labels and turquoise blue lettering on sleeve. Uncorrected matrix nos. 588171 A/1 & B/1.
The disc has many obvious scratches. Slight warp is apparent when disc is revolving. Side 1 has a noticeable swishing background sound in several places on Tracks 1 & 2. Persistent ticks throughout the side are mainly light but there are a few loud ones. Gets much better towards the end of the side. Side 2 has no background noise. Track 1 has about 10/12 loud ticks and throughout the side are another 25/30 very light ticks. No skips or jumps on either side. Definitely far from perfect but overall the enjoyment level is much better than you would expect from the visual examination.
The laminated sleeve is intact but suffering from edge/corner scuffing and creasing with light staining on rear. Overall rather grubby and discoloured.
