You wouldn't think this is a very hard album to find, what with all the millions of copies it sold. But wait, there is a catch: In 1973, Atlantic label had just merged with Warner Brothers, Elektra and Asylum into the world-wide marketing powerhouse named WEA (WEA being the acronym of the four labels), and was in the process of changing the layout of its label (and company’s address), literally as the album was being placed into production. As a result, only a minuscule number of the copies of the original print - probably less than 2% - came out on the original ATLANTIC label WITHOUT WEA LOGO on the label. We proudly present here one such specimen (AND, YES, FOLKS, WE ABSOLUTELY, CATEGORIGALLY GUARANTEE YOU WILL FIND SUCH LABEL INSIDE).

This also happens to be the very last Zep album to be issued on Atlantic label – all subsequent releases (Physical Graffiti; The Song Remains the Same; Presence; In through the out door; and Coda) were released on the band's proprietary "Swan Song" label.

Originally dismissed as a departure from their original style, the album aged with grace, and we don't think it would be farfetched to say that is one of the top-4 Led Zep studio albums ever (right up there with Zep I, IV and Physical Graphiti). Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

The bidders should note that this is a rare Bob Ludwig-mastered “hot pressing” of this album, with his initials “RL” (Robert Ludwig) etched in the trail-off vinyl of the disc (yes, we know for fact, even though the album is still sealed). All the wonderful elements of Bob Ludwig’s trademark mastering style are here: incredible clarity and balanced channel separation, vivid and spacious “ambience” sound, as well as wide dynamic and frequency range of the sound spectrum. As is almost always the case with Bob Ludwig’s masterings, the Bob Ludwig-mastered pressings of this album are CONSIDERABLY rarer than the regular, non-Ludwig copies of this album.

Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
