Description
Led Zeppelin I A1 / B1 Red/Plum Label
There are of course various red/plum pressings and this A1/B1 matrix is known as one of the second press variations following the first 'turquoise' edition with the 'Warner Bros / Jewel' credit on the labels.
It plays to a superb standard with only the lightest of static here and there and the majority plays with Near Mint quality. Plus there are no clicks or pops! There is also hardly any spindle wear and judging by this and how 'clean' the record I suspect the record has only ever been lightly played.
The cover is in very good condition with just a crease line on both sides.
Apologies for the shipping cost but the Royal Mail have massively increased their prices recently.

Play grading
'Good Times Bad Times' plays superbly from the first groove to the last with no clicks or pops. The only 'background' is a very minor touch of light static but it is so quiet and totally non-intrusive and still grades as Near Mint in my opinion. 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' plays with stunning clarity and the quieter sections again have only the lightest of static. This is such a powerful version and Near Mint- is more than deserved here. 'You Shook Me' just has a little more static on the intro but there are still no clicks or pops. It progresses in the same way and to the end there is no obvious intrusion on the audio but will grade as Ex+ as there is just a little more static here. I might even have under-graded it! 'Dazed And Confused' ends the side with very impressive audio and only very light intermittent static. The majority of this classic plays with stunning clarity and definition and easily grades as Ex+ with many sections better than that.
'Your Time Is Gonna Come' as always has some static/light crackle on the intro but it is certainly not loud. It then plays with wonderful clarity for the remainder and has only very minimal background static which is totally non-intrusive. A stunning version overall. An Ex- intro and Near Mint from then on. 'Black Mountain Side' plays beautifully and grades as Mint- and 'Communication Breakdown' is of the same 'high end' standard. It has no interference and plays with immense power and clarity and no interference. 'I Can't Quit You Baby' is so impressive for a 50 year old record as there are so many quiet sections and yet has only the lightest of static. Once more there are no clicks or pops and Near Mint is richly deserved. The iconic bass intro on 'How Many More Times' plays perfectly and continues to play with outstanding quality. This is without question one of the strongest versions I have heard in a long time as there is just no interference of any kind. The quieter sections have barely any static and the 'high octane' passages have never sounded better! Stunning and Near Mint in every way if not better!
Visual grading
The vinyl is in beautiful condition with no marks or scratches and still has an superb glossy sheen. There are only a few very faint sleeve removal hairlines on each side and quite honestly it would be hard to find a more visually impressive example!
The Cover
The 'silver band' laminated cover is very clean with no marking but does have a faint 'wavy' crease across most of the fron cover. A light 'straight' crease can be seen running across two thirds of the back cover. All a bit strange really! I don't think it has been bent otherwise this crease would be seen across the whole of the cover. Anyway, it is not major and is only a faint crease and has not damaged the cover in any way. The edges and spine are in superb order with no shelf wear and the opening edge has no handling wear either. The front cover has only a couple more faint laminate creases and the back cover is similar with a little more creasing in one small area on the left side. Not a perfect cover but it remains very strong.
The Inner Sleeve
The 'plastic bags...' poly-lined inner sleeve has no side splits or marking but does have Mercury P/6 written in one corner for some reason. I don't think Freddie ever owned this LP ha ha!! Two corners have a little creasing but it remains in excellent condition.
The Labels
They red/plum labels have hardly any spindle wear and have no marking or writing either. Stunning!
