Atlantic 588198 Stereo UK 2nd pressing, one of the earliest possible after the 'Wreck' first pressing! 588 198 A?2 1 1 3 2 588 198 B?2 1 2 2 2 Gatefold sleeve by EJ Day
This is one of the earliest copies of this outstanding album with 'Copyright Control' 'THANKYOU' as one word and 'Produced by Jimmy Page' below track listing on labels - the exact same as the VERY first pressing that has the 'Living Loving Wreck' song title on side 2. (later copies, also with A2/B2 matrices have publishing credits of Warner Bros./Jewel Music and Jimmy Page's production credit in the upper orange segment and 'THANK YOU' in two words).
Vinyl looks EX+ with just a couple of very faint hairlines. Lovely glossy sheen and rich black vinyl. Outstanding copy.
Sleeve looks EX+ with just light wear on bottom edge, slight creasing to spine which is still perfectly legible. Looks in fabulous condition and is easily one of the best I've seen of this notoriously fragile sleeve.
Labels are lovely and clean, some age marks and very little evidence of play. Superb!
Audio playback: Breathtaking! This is quite simply the cleanest and best sounding copy of this album I have EVER heard! The true tests of audio quality on this LP are the quiet sections in 'What Is And What Should Never Be' and 'Thank You'. The audio in these sections (and also in between tracks by the way) is outstandingly clean! I have never heard Led Zeppelin II as quiet as this copy in these sections - even the brand new remastered copy on vinyl I own isn't as good as this! Absolutely stunning audio. Needless to say the rest of the album's audio is also breathtaking, thunderous bass tone and fabulous overall song audio. The run ins are noise free, in between tracks are noise free, the loud song audio is just wonderful and as previously mentioned, the quietest sections are just unbelievable! This is without doubt a final audio upgrade copy. I seriously doubt you could find a better playing copy - and one as early as this - in such wonderful condition.
