LED ZEPPELIN II A6 / B4 Atlantic 58818 UK 1969 Red/Plum LABEL
This is an early red/plum release of their second LP from 1969 and is a transitional issue in that 'The Lemon Song' is on the gatefold credits but 'The Killing Floor' is on the label. This has the rarer gatefold with the sticker placed over the original credits with the new catalogue number.
The gatefold and label has 'Livin' Lovin' Maid' on the credits.
The record has the Jimmy Page production credit on both the label and gatefold and Peter Grant as the Executive Producer on the gatefold only.

I would grade the vinyl as Ex+ (although Near Mint in many sections)

Visual grading
For its age this vinyl is very clean indeed. There are a few faint hairlines and a thicker one on Side One but there are no scratches and visually is still in excellent condition. There is spindle wear but as described below the audio still plays to a very high standard. It is a superb listen truth be told.
Play grading
The classic 'Whole Lotta Love' plays with superb audio and almost no interference, just some minor static towards the end. There is some light distortion on the higher levels but this is common on a LP of this age. 'What is and What Should Never Be' has high quality audio again with no interference apart from two pops about two minutes in. 'The Lemon Song' follows the pattern in that it plays with great clarity and no crackle but has two clicks half way through and a further two towards the end. 'Thank You' ends Side One with superb audio, there's no other way to describe it! For a 47 year old vinyl to have hardly any static/crackle is remarkable. The quiet ending plays so well with just a touch of static towards the end.
'Heart Breaker' here plays with astonishing audio and rarely have I heard better. It plays loud and with such clear sound it is a quality listen. If there was any static I couldn't hear it! No pops, clicks or crackle, simply superb. I heard only 2/3 very light clicks on 'Livin' Lovin' Maid' and 'Ramble On' has a couple of clicks at the beginning and three louder pops as the music is fading out at the end. Other than that it again plays with very high class audio that has no further interference. 'Moby Dick' plays in exceptional style and the drum solo has no interference whatsoever! 'Bring It On Home' end the LP in classic style with, yes you guessed it, wonderful sound with only a touch of distortion perhaps.
The more I listen to this vinyl the more it impresses me! For such an early pressing it plays with stunning quality and whilst there are a few clicks there is barely any other background noise besides. It is incredible just how little static/crackle there is. The clarity and depth of sound is first rate and the bass comes through superbly on this pressing. It is without doubt one of the best red/plum versions I have heard.
Gatefold cover
The E.J. Day gatefold is in excellent condition with some shelf wear on the edges and corners and some light creasing. I do think it has stood the test of time very well though as overall it is very clean and there are no marks or stains anywhere. The inside is in great condition and as stated has the 'new catalogue number' sticker below the credits saying 'An Atlantic Record Distributed By Kinney Record Group Limited'. This gatefold is certainly better than many you will find.
Inner sleeve
This includes an original Polydor poly-lined sleeve and is in excellent condition with no splits to the sides just some light creasing.
