RARE original 1969 U.S. FIRST pressing, featuring Robert Ludwig's "HOT MIX" mastering on both sides! "RL SS" etching in both dead wax run-outs. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mis-track, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version. Labels include "MO" suffix (indicating a Monarch pressing) as well as a circle "(MR)" logo in the dead wax run-outs on both sides. "Mfg. By Atlantic Recording Corp., 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y." label rim text. "LW" (Longwear Plating) etching in the dead wax run-outs appears sideways compared to other text.

Vinyl has numerous light surface sleeve scuffs and scratches on both sides holding grade down, a few of which can be felt. Light crackling in the background and occasional light ticks/pops through some quieter passages and between songs. Side 1 grades VG- with several ticks/pops and a skip at the second bridge before the outro on A1 "Whole Lotta Love" and A2 "What Is And What Should Never Be" has several ticks/pops and a skip during the beginning. Side 2 plays much greater than Side 1 and grades VG+ with no skips but still has light crackling in the background and occasional light ticks/pops through some quieter passages and between songs. Labels are excellent with a couple light spindle mark. The original Atlantic catalog inner sleeve has heavy wear with seam splitting entirely along the bottom edge, seam splitting at the middle of one side edge, a 2-inch seam split/rip at the top of one edge, top of other edge is unglued/split and a few small rips along the top edge. Gatefold cover has heavy cornerwear/edgewear, a 3-4 inch seam split right side of top edge, a 2-inch seam split at the center of spine edge, heavy wear at the top and bottom of the spine edge and light ringwear/hazing. Inside of the gatefold is clean and excellent.

International packages are typically sent by First Class International mail. It is fairly quick and cheap. Tracking is now available to some countries. However, insurance is NOT offered by the US Post Office with this shipping option.
If you prefer that your package be insured, shipping will be by Priority Mail International mail or registered mail. That is a LOT more expensive, but this is YOUR option. Ask me.

PLANETARYSOUNDS DOES NOT include insurance. Insurance is up to YOU! If you think there is a risk such as damage or loss (bad postman, porch theft, etc.) , insure it! If you don't we will not be liable for such loss.

GRADING
Here is the standard PlanetarySounds grades records by (with help from Goldmine).
Remember, even with such a guide, grading is still subjective. Most albums, unless noted, are visually graded under bright lights. We strive to provide as much information as possible about each album. Please ask questions if unsure about anything BEFORE you bid.
Still Sealed (SS) As good as it gets. Unopened and most likely perfect all around.
Mint (M) Absolutely perfect in every way. Maybe played once. Handled with utmost care.
Near Mint (NM or M-) A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear. Covers show no more than the most minor defects. The same holds true for inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.
Near Mint Minus or Very Good Plus Plus (NM- or VG++) Just a hair more wear than NM, but still very close to Near Mint overall. Vinyl may have nominal sleeve or paper scuffs, cover may have hint of wear. VG++ will be just a fraction below NM- due to one additional tiny defect.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Album and cover show some light signs that it was played and otherwise handled with care of it. Record surfaces may have slight surface scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. If not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
Very Good (VG) Increased scuffs or light scratches, surface noise evident upon playing. Covers and labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers, or minor seam splits.
Very Good Minus (VG-) Certain background noise, possible click or pop, flawed item. Covers heavily damaged, major splits, tears, writing, etc.
