Description
This is a genuine 1969 UK 3rd Pressing LP in very nice overall condition! This pressing represents a brief moment before Zeppelin had to adjust credits due to copyright disputes, making it a significant and rare collector’s item.
A3 appears as "The Lemon Song" on sleeve, but as "Killing Floor" on label. The track "The Lemon Song" is credited to Chester Burnett (Howlin’ Wolf) with the title "Killing Floor"—a direct reference to the blues song it was heavily based on. Later pressings removed this credit after legal action from Howlin’ Wolf’s publishers, leading to "The Lemon Song" being credited solely to Led Zeppelin instead.
B2 appears as "Livin' Lovin' Maid (She's a Woman)" on sleeve, but as "Livin' Lovin' Maid (She's Just a Woman)" on label. On Side B on tracks B1 and B4: John-Paul Jones is credited by his real name (Baldwin).
Cover detail: Printed & made by E.J.Day & Co., London W11 'UPTIGHT AN' OUTASIGHT' is the official Atlantic Appreciation Society at 17•19 Stratford Place W1. No track timings are given. Comes with a polylined inner sleeve.
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has red & maroon "Atlantic" labels. Also, note the copyright information has now been listed as Warner Bros and Jewel Music whereas the first label just states ‘Copyright control’. 2nd label now credits ‘Produced by Jimmy Page’ in the orange segment below ‘Led Zeppelin II’ (first label design has the credit in the plum segment).
This pressing, like the 1st and 2nd Press has a lighter brown coloured finish to the front gatefold sleeve. The sleeve is printed by "E.J. Day".
The record has 3rd pressing matrix numbers. They are machine stamped in the dead wax. The early stampers include include A2/B2 or A5/B4, depending on the exact pressing run. The matrices are:
Side 1: 588 198 A//5 1 1 7
Side 2: 588 198 ▽B //4 1 4 4
Condition:
Vinyl: VG+: has light surface scratches but plays very well, as an early press should, with power and clear audio.. Absolutely no jumps or ticks.
Sleeve: VG+: The sleeve is the lighter brown version you want to see on an early pressing. Complete with original inner sleeve.
