Atlantic 2401-002 Plum / Red labels
UK 1970
Engraved "So Mote It Be" and "Do What Thou Wilt" on the deadwax near the label. Apparently only the earliest cuts had these!! A5 B5 also etched in.
This album has not been played for over 25 years. Only last week I decided to play it again and it played very nicely despite a few wispy hairlines. I suppose it could be professionally cleaned and result in better audio than the present.
This is the extremely rare Zep III album. There aren't any skips or jumps or I would not list the album. Not mint but a very great, far better than average condition album that will please most but the most demanding collectors.
The vinyl: Three light hairlines which cannot be heard on replay. Otherwise a great deep sheen, a lovely vinyl. The audio is beautiful, powerful and the way these first issues were cut would never be equalled in any re-issue. This is easily VG++ and many would say EX. A great unabused vinyl that will sit fine in all but the most demanding collections.
The cover: Gatefold with the wheel in the front section. The cover was printed in Germany. I understand that there was a shortage of UK sleeves so the majority had this sleeve which is identical apart from the "Made in Germany" bit. To the back bottom there is a bit of sellotape. This could possibly be removed as it looks it was applied for rub protection. The spine is fully readable. Light creases and small edge "bumps". VG+
The labels: Excellent, not any marks or writing. Super!!
This has the original blue printed inner sleeve in excellent condition.
This will make a great investment for the future as these are now far and few between.
