Description

Artist - Led Zeppelin

Title - Led Zeppelin III (3) 

Description - 1970 UK first issue 10-track stereo LP on the plum & red Atlantic label, with Peter Grant label credit below the album title on the labels, "Do What Thou Wilt" & "So Mote It Be" hand-scratched into the vinyl runoff area + fully laminated die-cut gatefold picture sleeve, with the unusual front panel top & bottom opening [later issues discarded this].

Record Label/Catalogue Number - Atlantic - 2401002 Matrix SIDE 1. 2421002 A-5 (HAND ETCHED)''DO WHAT THOU WILT'' - SIDE 2. 2431002 B-5 (HAND ETCHED) ''SO MOTE IT BE'' (HAND ETCHED ON THE RUN OFF GROOVES ONLY 1ST PRESS) 

Condition - The thick glossy vinyl is in very good condition; there are very faint surface scuffs/marks, but no major marks or scratches

The labels are bright and clean and free from any writing, scuffs or tears. There are very few spindle marks evident around the centre hole. This original label design has 'Produced By Jimmy Page' and 'Executive Producer: Peter Grant' text printed below the album title. This was discarded for subsequent presses.

The Cover

This is the original 1st press E.J.Day & Co printed gatefold cover with fully functioning wheel. The ORIGINAL UK print  features the correct catalogue number on the spine!  (only 1st press covers).  The spine is strong with full title and catalogue number present.  The unusual front panel has top & bottom opening [later issues discarded this].  No splits or tears. There is some light yellowing with age only around the edges and some light laminate creases. Minimal shelf wear after nearly 44 years. I have owned this from October 1970 when it was first released and it has been stored away for the last 30 years without being played.
