Description
LED ZEPPELIN IV 1971 ATLANTIC 1st PRESS PETER GRANT EX
WELL PLAYED BUT SOUNDS GREAT WITH LITTLE TO FAULT
LED ZEPPELINLed Zeppelin IV
UK ATLANTIC (DE LUXE 2401 012) VERY FIRST PRESSING (November 1971) OF LED ZEPPELIN'S CLASIC FOURTH LP
A GENUINE UK FIRST PRESS WITH PETER GRANT PRODUCTION CREDITS AND 'LED ZEPPELIN' PRINTED ON THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE LABEL (only the symbols printed on the top)
MATRIX: 2401012 XXX A//3 12 9 ('PECKO DUCK') / 2401012 B//4 11 3 ('PORKY')
HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL SOFT BACKED MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH FACTORY SEALED LEFT SIDE EDGE
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL THIN DELICATE TEXTURED FLIPBACK INNER
SIDE 1: Black Dog / Rock 'n' Roll / Battle Of Evermore / Stairway To Heaven
SIDE 2: Misty Mountain Hop / Four Sticks / Going To California / When The Levee Breaks
LABELS: EXCELLENT
Clean, unmarked labels with numerous spindle traces.
The Side One label is paler in colour than normal - a manufacturing issue (never seen this before on just the one side, on both labels yes, but never on just the one)
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT-
The vinyl surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen with just some general light hairlines/superficial marks - these have little audio impact
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT
Outstanding audio delivery - crystal clear, deep, rich, very sharp and extremely strong - sounds great
My careful play-check at loud volume revealed no major audio issues of note - no scratches and very little surface noise - just a touch between tracks and one or two of the quieter bits - nothing major - it plays extremely well throughout.
All-told, a very nice playing copy and even though it's seen a number of spins I would say only on quality equipment as the audio is very clean and there are no evident signs of groove-wear or distortion
SLEEVE: GOOD++
The original soft back matt gatefold sleeve is looking a little tired with rubbing to the edges and spine and a small tear to the bottom back opening edge (please see close-up photos) otherwise, OK (I wouldn't normally list anything of this low grade but this is the original sleeve and has not been swapped for one of the later heavier weight, thicker card sleeves)
INNER SLEEVE: VERY GOOD
The original delicate flipback inner sleeve has the inevitable split to bottom edge (only) but is otherwise clean and unmarked and has not been "repaired" with any unsightly tape
ALL RECORDS ARE PACKAGED WITH THE VINYL OUTSIDE OF THE SLEEVE TO PREVENT ANY 'KNIFING' DURING TRANSIT
A PROTECTIVE POLY SLEEVE, NEW INNER SLEEVE WITH NEW ANTI-STATIC LINER, QUALITY BOX (NOT ENVELOPE) MAILER AND AMPLE STIFFENERS ARE ALWAYS USED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR RECORD ARRIVES SAFELY
