Description
BEFORE BIDDING PLEASE NOTE THIS REVISED SHIPPING INFORMATION ON ALL MY LISTINGS. DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THE TERMS UPON WHICH I WILL SHIP ITEMS. I AM SORRY FOR IMPOSING THESE TERMS BUT IT IS ALL DOWN TO PAYPAL.
I had a buyer who recently purchased 3 LPs from me at a cost of £72.00, with shipping to Europe. He chose proof of posting with insurance cover of £36.00 and with shipping costs not covered in the event of damage or loss; he even acknowledged this via eBay message system. He did not want to pay for International signed for shipping with insurance over £36.00.
The LPs were said to be lost in transit and he claimed on Paypal, despite his acceptance of his choice of shipping method and my proof of posting with weight confirmation for 3 LPs; apparently Paypal rules dictate that I am responsible for ensuring safe delivery to the buyer's address and therefore I had to fully reimburse the buyer.
In view of this appalling stance by Paypal all invoices over a total of £36.00 value for non UK delivery items will be sent International signed for with FULL insurance cover, if the invoice is for items over £36.00 then the cost is £2.20 (up to £500.00 value) in addition to the International signed for cost of £3.50. I am sorry for having to insist upon this but I am not prepared to ship LPs and then be subject to a claim for non arrival. If you wish to bid on other sellers' listings that do not stipulate this then I will understand and indeed you may be able to save shipping costs and still be fully covered !!!!! The same applies to UK shipping when the item is over £36.00, Special Delivery must be taken as a shipping method; Recorded Delivery is standard on all my listings and is acceptable for all invoices up to £36.00.
I do not blame the buyer for claiming on the Paypal system as he says his LPs did not arrive, I will be taking this matter up with eBay and Paypal as the system needs to be clarified; as why should the seller be held responsible if the buyer chooses an under insured shipping method without signed for delivery.
I have decided to sell all my vinyl as my separates system ceased to work some time ago now and I find MP3 more convenient for the car and whilst on the move; having transferred over the majority of my vinyl collection to MP3 via a friend’s quality system.
I have had a break of 2 months from listing vinyl having sold so much of my collection in the last 12 months; I had intended to keep 75 LPs but have now increased this to 100 and have spent the break time copying the remainder of the vinyl to MP3 before selling the final 60/70 LPs from my now considerably smaller collection.
I will retain a core of 100 of the most highly collectable and valuable vinyl which I will never sell just in case I return to vinyl one day in the future.
I have already sold Led Zeppelin I for £162, Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy with OBI strip for £139 together with Led Zeppelin II copies at £135 and £128, Led Zeppelin IV at £132 and Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland at £138 with Band of Gypsys at £133. Black Sabbath Paranoid for £74, Deep Purple Fireball at £91, Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers for £57 and John Mayall Bluesbreakers for £85. A number of these buyers have returned and purchased further LPs.
I am a massive fan of Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the Rolling Stones amongst others and had in excess of 150 Led Zeppelin LPs at the peak of my collecting with over 50 red/plum copies which were acquired when most of my friends moved over to CD.
See my feedback for buyers’ opinions of my LPs.
I have carefully looked after my collection over the years since I started to collect them in the early 1970s. Most have not been played for 20+ years.
I will endeavour to list as accurately as possible using my own grading system supplemented by The Record Collector grading.
I cannot and will not describe any of my LPs or singles as mint condition however, as this to me would imply that they are in an unused condition and none of them are, they have all been played to some degree and at best are near mint and at worst excellent. I am listing all LPs etc using the standard template below.
I will sell the more valuable and rare LPs and EPs from my vinyl collection over the next 6 months with a percentage going to Cancer Research UK together with an additional donation via a tax credit under the Gift Aid scheme.
I have managed to reach my first target by raising over £1000 and so far have raised £1300 from my sales, thank you to all buyers who have helped support Cancer Research UK.
In order to minimise my listing costs, as I am donating to charity, I will only provide 2 photos per listing, however any interested buyer can e- mail me and I will gladly provide a photo of any relevant part of the cover, label etc.

I am of course keeping a red/plum copy of this LP in my 100 keeps for all time and had considered keeping this label error copy as it is so superb; however I have decided to sell it as I had over 50 red/plum copies and will only keep one of each of Led Zeppelin I-IV.
Led Zeppelin: Led Zeppelin IV
This is no ordinary copy of this superb LP
1. Track one on side two has the label error with "Misty Mountain TOP" quoted not "Misty mountain HOP" as on virtually all other copies.
2. This vinyl is a red/plum manufactured issue and has the matrix 2401012 A3/B4 to confirm it is an original 1st vinyl press, it has all the performance and power that was packed into the 1st press vinyl grooves and mastered by George Peckham and signed off with his Porky and Pecko Duck etchings.
3. Porky and Pecko Duck master engineer etchings ONLY found on 1st press vinyl by the famous sound engineer George Peckham.
4. It has a red/plum label as it was manufactured in 1st press heavyweight red/plum vinyl HOWEVER IT IS UNLIKE ORDINARY 1st press red/plum vinyls as it has the ULTRA RARE label error.
5. It has the ULTRA RARE crossed out and altered matrix on side 1.
6. ULTRA RARE dark grey flipback lyric inner sleeve.
In collecting vinyl it is always the rare errors in covers, matricies and labels that make them so valuable and this really has to be up there with the best of them.
1st press vinyl in NM+ condition a superb piece of 1st press heavyweight vinyl
Porky and Pecko Duck etching by the famous sound engineer George Peckham.
2401012 matrix A3/B4 with the crossed out and altered matrix denoting 1st press,
Outer original matt gatefold cover in NM condition with no writing rips or tears, this matt cover was highly prone to wear (I owned over 50 red/plum copies of Led Zeppelin I - IV at the height of my collecting).
Inner lyric sleeve is the ULTRA RARE dark grey flipback version which is in EX+ condition. This sleeve is so often slit on all three sides however this one has survived remarkably well and has one 2 inch slit on the bottom and a 1 inch slit on one side . The vinyl is housed in a separate poly lined sleeve to protect the vinyl and delicate inner sleeve.
Labels free from writing, there are only a couple of spindle marks.
Housed in a plastic protective cover.
The LP or single will be despatched within the UK by first class recorded (signed for) post in LP/single mailers with a minimum of 2 cardboard stiffeners supplied by Soundswholesale (eBay seller) and held in a poly sleeve. LP/single to be posted within 3 days of receipt of cleared payment to PayPal account. Special Delivery is mandatory at an additional postage cost for high value items as recorded delivery cover is currently limited to £36.00.
I am happy to ship overseas,
I am not liable personally for compensation once the item is passed over to Royal Mail, however unlike a number of other sellers I will complete all documentation needed here in the UK to enable compensation due from Royal Mail to be claimed and then paid over to the buyer.
I only charge a nominal amount for packaging and do not look to make a profit on the shipping part of the sale.
Overseas buyers can email me for a quote based upon this LP and/or multiple purchases.
I am happy to combine postage on multiple purchases within a 7 day period. Please tell me if you intend to bid on multiple listings.
I look to cover my costs on shipping and NOT profit from this element of the sale. I cannot control postage prices levied by Royal Mail.
