Description
LED ZEPPELIN - " IV (a.k.a. FOUR SYMBOLS) ", Atlantic Records (2401012) Stereo, 1971.
Very rare, original 1971, English 1st pressing of the classic Led Zeppelin album.
Features that distinguish this first UK pressing are; Red and Plum labels, unlaminated gatefold sleeve, soft paper dark grey inner sleeve with flipback edges, Supehype label credits, matrix numbers ending in A3 (with A3 being a correction from a crossed out B1) and B3 (not the later B4 many unscrupulous dealers try to pass off as the first matrix), plus "Porky" and "Pecko Duck" etched into the dead wax alongside the matrix numbers. This is the key bit for me as these pressings taken from the George 'Porky' Peckham masters really do sound superior to all the later versions.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a new poly-lined inner sleeve (with the original retained to keep it complete, of course).
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Labels are pretty clean with just light spindle trails and a couple of other specs on each side. In daylight the vinyl looks perfectly clean, but a bright grading lamp reveals a couple of very light paper/surface scuffs - as you would expect, these do not sound on playback. Plays very well indeed - strong, clear and without interruption from clicks, crackles, etc... There's a minute amount of surface noise in the pressing during the silent run-in, but once the music starts, it disappears and plays strong and clear without interuptions. Clearly only had fairlylight use in it's lifetime and has been very well cared for.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
INNER SLEEVE = Generally very clean, but with a few light thumb creases and a small tear along the open edge - see photo for more
SLEEVE = EX- (No big creases, monster rips, defacing, etc. Generally in good shape with the slight grubbiness and light wear to edges and corners you would expect. The only real let down is a small sticker tear on the rear sleeve - see photos for further clarification)
