This is an ORIGINAL1971 U.K.1st pressing on the 1st press Red/Plum Atlantic record. What makes this LP really special is that it is a very early 1st pressing with completely different text and credit labels. The differences between the first issues labels and the later ones are as follows.
 a) The writing "Under Licence From Atlantic Recording Corpn. U.S.A." is above the  white line (later labels have this text inside the white stripe).      b) The second thing to notice is that some credits were accidently omitted  on this early issue  labels. If you view the photos you can see the incorrect "Kinney Music Ltd"  This was soon deleted and replaced  by the correct "Kinney Music/Superhype Music Inc"         c) The biggest differences is that the text "Led Zeppelin" is printed at the bottom of the labels. Later releases had this moved to the top of the label above the white stripe. Also printed at the bottom of the labels is "Executive Producer Peter Grant" Jimmy Page objected to this and this credit was immediately removed.

     Led Zeppelin IV would spend over a year in the UK charts. The red/plum labels were discontinued by Atlantic in March 1972  and replaced by the orange and green labels with a new catalogue number K 50008. Consequently this issue far outsold the early red/plum ones.  
   Vinyl:  Plays superbly without any problems. Not even a trace of crackle. Under a bright light some minor sleeve removal marks BUT absolutely nothing serious. EX+

Gatefold sleeve:  EX.  A great gatefold sleeve and the original matt one for this first UK press version. (Glossy sleeves are second presses belonging to green/orange labels).  Remarkably, barely any creasing at all and only a trace of ringwear on the rear.

Inner sleeve. EX+. Original inner with Keith Morris credit for Photography. No splits. No tears.
Overall a really great looking AND sounding copy of this hard to find label variant.

MINT: Virtually unplayed. The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover is pristine.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
V.G PLUS: The record will still be nice and shiny, but may have a few light marks, and will play well. Slight wear and tear on the cover.
V.G: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, etc.
FAIR: Fair. It is noticeable that the record has been played so much that the sound quality has deteriorated very noticeably. The cover and contents are showing signs of folding, scuffing of edges etc.
 Further information. All records are separated from the covers and    sent in a brand new polythene sleeve and packed in heavy duty cardboard.
