Rubber Dubber      70-007

1970

FIRST PRESSING (see below for how to tell a first pressing from a second pressing).

BEST PRICE ON EBAY AS OF 11-11-2016.  THERE WAS ONE OTHER COPY OF THIS AMAZING HISTORICAL BOOT AND IT IS LISTED AT $204 in September and this particular copy’s discs are in EX shape, not VG+ the one for $204 sold for.  I’m just sayin’….

SUPER copy of legendary rock bootlegger Rubber Dubber’s seventh LP release.  This copy is stunning.  The discs are immaculate and the cover is really nice.  No splits. Corners are very nice.  Any surface scuffing is minimal. You will love this copy and as time goes on, I believe these original first pressing Rubber Dubbers will become museum pieces. ‘Member, I called it first!!  Character actor”Dub” Taylor & Ken Douglas were, in fact, Rubber Dubber.  After the RD label, they setup Trade Mark of Quality and several other well known and legendary bootleg labels in the early 1970s.

I bought this copy at Central Park Mall under the counter at Dillards in late 1970.  THE WAY TO TELL A FIRST PRESSING IS:  The first copies pressed did not have the disclaimer printed on the cover about the $6 guarantee against defects and workmanship.  That logo and information was added to the second pressing after the major US record labels and the RIAA began a concerted press campaign to convince the young buyers that these “bootlegs” were of inferior quality.  All anyone had to do was put one of the Dubber’s quality roducts and it was evident the boots were at least as good as legitimate releases of live recordings (OK, maybe “Get Your Ya Yas Out” is the exception to that).

Put on a true piece of history when you place the neddleinto the grooves of this vinyl album. It seemed every apartment, dorm room and crash pad had one of Rubber Dubber’s bootlegs blasting out the windows in the summer and fall of 1970.  I have had almost all of them (I just sold the CSN&Y double RD two weeks ago) but DON’T ask me to find one now or post one; and please don’t try to bribe me unless it’s with gold).  I am just going through the stacks during the next 5-7 years and if you stick with me, you will see a lot of amazing things that are rarely seen, much less SEEN FOR SALE!!  This I swear.

Buy this album because of the sound, the historical significance, the Rubber Dubberism of it   Stored vertically in a smoke free environment for 46 years.
