LED ZEPPELIN - S/T LP Atlantic SD 8216 First US Pressing from 1969 on the Atlantic Purple & Gold label ST-A-681461 PR matrix on label  VERY HARD TO FIND & POSSIBLY A DIFFERENT MIX!

This is a VERY rare and hard-to-find version of Led Zeppelin's self-titled debut album, with purple and gold (or brown) Atlantic labels, which were used on only a VERY FEW Atlantic albums in late 1968 and early 1969.  Atlantic had officially switched to it's "green & red" label design in late '68, prior to the release of LZ1; yet a very small amount were pressed with this label design.
Moreover, this variant is rumored to have a different mix of side one.  Upon listening to that side, I did not note any differences, HOWEVER, on SIDE TWO, the pause before Communication Breakdown is definitely longer!  On the standard version, CB starts immediately at the conclusion of Black Mountain Side; on this copy, there is approximately 2-3 seconds of silence between the tracks.  Repeated listens may bear out more subtle differences.
Please understand, I can neither confirm nor deny that this is a different mix.  Though I am quite familiar with this album, I think it would take a Zep expert to determine that. However, the difference in the between track spacing, as detailed above, is definitely real, and suggests that a different source may have been used for the pressing of this version of the LP. 
Vinyl shows some scuffing and scratches and plays with surface noise that is audible, though generally under the louder parts of the music.  A deeper mark on Good Times Bad Times caused 2 quick skips; NO OTHER skips were heard throughout the rest of the LP.  Both sides seem to improve as they play inward, and side two is marginally quieter than side one.  Outside of the skips, and despite the surface noise, this is an enjoyable listen, especially side two.
Jacket has light general wear, light to moderate edge wear (split across 3/4s of the bottom, small corner and center splits on spine, small corner split on top right about 1"), but is otherwise in great shape and presents well.
This is a VERY rare pressing - the first I've seen in 10 years!  No reserve auction, highest bidder takes it!  Please bid with confidence.

Delivery time with Media Mail is usually 7 days from ship date, but has been known to take over 2 weeks in some cases, please be aware of this. We ship once a week - Friday morning. Paid items are packed Wednesday & Thursday. Therefore, we recommend prompt payment to insure same-week shipping and thus the fastest possible delivery. We schedule most of our auctions to close on Mondays, in order to provide ample time for payment. Please be aware that items paid for AFTER Thursday morning will most likely ship the Friday of the following week. 
We pack our items carefully. LP's are removed from jackets, packed in sturdy cardboard mailers specifically designed for LPs, and secured with bubble wrap and other insulation. Double-boxing is available upon request, though additional charges for materials and weight will apply.  We are happy to combine multiple items in a single shipment. Again, if you are a winning bidder, please let us know if your waiting for an additional auction to close before shipping. Additional shipping charges for single LPs are $.50 each/media, $2 each/priority or $4 each/international. Limit 3 single LPs (ie. 4 lbs.) for international shipping at these rates.
