Lee Dorsey was no teenager when he first became a hit with teens in 1961, he was already 37 years old! The tune that captivated the record buyers that fall was "Ya Ya." The song got to #7 on the charts and was one of those career defining tunes, and he only got close to it's equal once more with "Workin' In The Coal Mine."

This record is pure New Orleans soul and is an unsold store stock 45 that has Lee Dorsey in a totally different bag than those early singles just a few years past. It’s the fall of 1969 and his new tunes are “Give It Up” and “Candy Yam.” As a trademark of quality, both are from the songwriter stash of Allen Toussaint who arranged the single as well.
