This is the “RVG” etched, Laminated Cover, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “Lee Morgan, Vol.3” on the “47 West 63rd New York 23” labels of Blue Note BLP 1557. Musicians include Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Gigi Gryce, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Charlie Persip.
VINYL plays with consistent low to medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks, some repeating (medium loud repeating tick Side 2, #1, #2). But Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. Plays well overall. Powerful. No distortion. No skips. OK gloss. Many hairline marks, one long mark on Side 2 is feelable, and a couple others. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove “47 West 63rd New York 23” labels are clean, fading one side, with spindle wear. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in OK shape. Peeling evident, seams and spine taped end to end. Some staining at opening front side. Corners very worn. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows aging, fading, pen writing. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
