LEE MORGAN “Search For The New Land” RVG, P, Blue Note BLP 4169 Mono Vinyl

This is the 1966, first edition, “VAN GELDER” etched, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “Search For The New Land” on the “New York USA” labels of Blue Note BLP4169. Musicians include Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Grant Green, Reggie Workman, Billy Higgins.

VINYL plays with consistent medium to loud level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks, many repeating. Occasional skips. But as with most first pressing Blue Notes, ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. Okay gloss. 8 or so long feelable marks. The “New York USA” labels are clean, spindle wear. Original inner sleeve included See photos.

COVER is in OK shape. Corners worn. Many wrinkles. Stains at bottom of jacket. Top seam has long 3” split, spine and bottom seam worn, but clean. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows ringwear, stains. Please see photos.

     This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
