This 1954 release from Folkways has become quite legendary in the music business. To describe it as merely a folk record, I tell you, is to do it an injustice. For many, this is a bible of giving.
Yes, good ole Pete takes you through it all, step by step, from basic strumming to frailing, from three-finger picking to double thumbing. There’s even a section devoted to “blues and jazz” and “Spanish and South American Guitar Techniques.”
A treatise on musicality without peer, from a man who has endeared himself to many of us with his faultless and unending giving. (Just turned 90, he did.)
Hardboard cover of this copy is without fault, the instruction book is fine indeed, and the original blue-label Folkways heavy platter should play near mint.
A piece of work on vinyl that stands as hearty and strong as the man who created it. Bravo, Pete!
