Prepare to be transported back to an era which, without sounding to down on today, was far more fertile in terms of alternative rock & roll compared with 2020-whatever it is now. It's A Shame About Ray landed in 1992, and was the fifth studio album from exalted guitar janglers The Lemonheads. It opens with serious energy and a distinctly Generation X attitude, and really doesn't let up from there. An international hit, penetrating the top 50 UK albums and US charts alike, with the title song itself going on to feature in Pitchfork's Top 200 Tracks of the 1990s' list, reissued versions of the record eventually came with a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's classic 'Mrs Robinson', which wasn't featured on the original but, dropped as a stand-alone single, quickly became the band's biggest anthem. That's included on this version, although the real joy is diving into the depths and realising just how good the whole thing always was.
