It's a hugely welcome return from fuzz rock greats The Lemonheads, who release their first album of material in nearly 20 years. The prolonged break was broken with a couple of covers albums, but in general The Lemonheads have been ill concerned about being forgotten and are able to release at their own pace because the appetite from fans is never going to diminish, such is the excellence of frontman and co-founder Evan Dando's songwriting. Recorded in Brazil, just like the rest of the track on the album, the riff-led single 'In The Margin' is an air guitar anthem with a disarming vocal melody that's woven in beautifully. The track 'Deep End' features none other than Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis, who let it rip with an incredible guitar solo. The album isn't short on guests: Moldy Peaches' Adam Green, the Bevis Frond's Nick Saloman are among a slew of other hugely talented musicians on here. This is an album that stands shoulder to shoulder with their best stuff and proves that time away from the album release cycle hasn't blunted their brilliance in any way.
