Description
John Lennon and Yoko Ono - "Wedding Album" . UK Apple - Sapcor 11 (Stereo). The Record is tight on the turntable spindle, testifying to it's little (if any!) use. The vinyl and label are visually as new and the record plays with virtually no 'surface noise' of any kind.
The ultra-rare Box is in remarkable condition with no tears, repairs and no damage - the only possible flaw being that the lid has very slightly 'concaved' towards the centre over time (but has always been stored vertically!). The facsimile Marriage Certificate is glued to the inside of the lid and is as new. The Box Lid carries the Number SMAX-3361 'Printed In USA', which I have just discovered not to be so unusual and in fact was also sometimes the case with George Harrison's "Bangla Desh" Box Set. I understand this to be the result of Apple UK 'running out of boxes'! I bought this Album new, so it has certainly always had the same box!
The Record Sleeve has only some very minimal edge creases and separation of the laminate, the only noticeable flaw being some 'scuffing' at the top and bottom fold of the Gatefold Sleeve (see photo). The correct plain white Inner Sleeve, with 'Made in Great Britain' has only very minor creasing, apart from which it is almost as new. The 'Press' Booklet is as new; the fold-out 'The Wedding' poster has some very minimal 'finger marks' on the lower right corner but is otherwise fine; the Lennon 'lithographs' fold-out poster has again only some very superficial creasing, again to the right hand corner only and otherwise fine; the plastic 'Bagism' bag is unmarked and clean; the photo of the Wedding Cake is as new, apart from the tiniest semi-circular crease at the bottom; the 'photo booth' picture strip and postcard are as new.
I have put an appropriate Reserve Price on this auction to reflect the rarity of this item.
