Description
**** Have a look at the actual advert for this album from my 1967 Evergreen Review - an underground literary review - No the magazine does not come with it, but Thought it would be cool to show you where and when and how this album was promoted... again this is NOT MAINSTREAM AMERICA who was going to buy this Album, so the small budget marketing of the record label had to choose wisely..
LENNY BRUCE - ORIG 1961 NYC Recording “ Late Night Marijuana Set” Misfits, Outcasts, People of Color, Jews, Artist, pot smokers, pill takers, non-conformist or any subculture dissed on by mainstream America, well Lenny was your friend and more importantly Lenny Bruce was essentially your only advocacy in a public format in still a hyper-conservative establishment- Homosexuality.
-And so these are just a few bits Lenny Bruce performed on February 4, 1961 to a packed Carnegie Hall and despite the mayor of New York City threatening New Yorkers to “ stay inside” ( sound familiar?) because of unusually heavy and threatening snowfall. Again this is 1961 America- one can just as easily say 1950s America: staunch straight up conservative, uptight commie hating, red meat and massive sized American automobiles.. and here comes Lenny Bruce on stage with bits like “ Homosexuality” - “ The Flag” - “ Communism” - or gheez, let’s throw in “ Christ and Moses” .... A significant comedy performance here iconic and Incineratary satire cut & tear performance This is the first U.S. (1967) Pressing and remains (scarce) sealed in its original state
