DESCRIPTION
- Record is VG+
- Cover is EX to VG+ (has some seam splits on top & bottom)
We use the Goldmine Record Grading Guide as the standard for grading our records because it is the most widely used and accepted method for buying and selling records.
Records are visually graded, it is not practical to listen to each one because that is a time consuming process.
Below are the Standards for Grading Vinyl Records:
Record Grading:
(SS) Still sealed: Never been opened, original seal intact.
(M) Mint: Perfect all around. Records are hard to find in this condition and they are minimal.
(NM or M-) Near Mint: Nearly perfect condition. No signs of wear and tear.
(VG+) Very Good Plus or (EX) Excellent: May show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs, very light scratches, or slight warps. These do not affect sound or listening experience. Some very light ring wear or discoloration may be present on the label, but it should be hardly noticeable.
(VG) Very Good: Signs of wear are more evident in this grade. Groove wear can be seen and light scratches will be deep enough to feel with a fingernail. Surface noise will be present when record is played, especially during soft passages, song’s intro and fade. However, noise will not overpower the music. Minor writing, tape or sticker (or sticker residue) may be present on label.
(G) Good or (G+) Good Plus: Good means good, not bad, please keep that in mind. When played, the record should play without skipping. Substantial surface noise and groove wear will be present. The label displays heavy wear and writing. Records in this grade can be used as a filler until a better one comes along and then you can upgrade. This would be a great choice, especially if you've been searching for it for a long time.
Cover Grading:
(SS) Still Sealed: Never been opened. (Although a sealed, a cover may show slight signs of ring wear because it has been stored for years. A small cut may also be present)
(M) Mint: Perfect all around.
(NM or M-) Near Mint: Free of creases, ring wear and seam splits.
(VG+) Very Good Plus or (EX) Excellent: May have some minor seam wear or split. May also have slight defacing such as a cutout markings.
(VG) Very Good: Shows signs of handling such as ring wear in the middle or the edges. Some creases may be visible. Seam splits will be a bit larger than the VG+, although it will not be obvious. Writing or a price tag may also be evident.
(G) Good or (G+) Good Plus: Has substantial wear, seam splits and heavy writing.
