Absolutely beautiful copy of the original 1958 pressing of Leroy Vinnegar’s famous Leroy Walks! LP on Contemporary Records C-3542. One of the all-time great jazz bass records, really showing his marvelous talent off beautifully and musically, without too much “solo” time to bore most people out of the room. His playing is prominently featured throughout these incredible arrangements, which include incredible vibraharp playing by Vic Feldman, giving the whole thing a really mellow sound that allows the bass to really shine through. Also Teddy Edwards is playing tenor, and just brilliantly as always. An absolute classic of West Coast jazz, and as I say, one of the great jazz bass recordings of all time. This copy is just stunning. The whole thing plays very near flawlessly and just gorgeously. The only issue is three parallel surface scuffs on side one, which are visible but they are truly superficial and don’t make any sound at all. Not scratches! Not a single tick to be heard and not even any background crackle! Really an incredible copy that sounds about as perfect as you can ever hope for. The cover is likewise just beautiful, with only very tiny corner wear at the top left, and a price written in pencil on the back. Some very minor signs of age as well but really an incredibly clean and crisp and shiny copy. Absolutely the best copy of this record I have ever seen. Glorious.
